I want to move my exchange cluster 2003 to new hardware. What are the best ways to move ? Swing installation, desasterrecovery ...

take image backup of clusterd nodes and restore on new servers and good luck.

Hello Bernhard,

There are many ways to do it.

The most painless way as it appears to me:-

You could add the new servers to the existing cluster as additional nodes, move the resources across, and then remove the old nodes from the cluster/uninstall exchange 2003 on the old nodes.

Hi Bernhard,

It may not be possible to find a document that describes exactly your process. However, here is a break up on what needs to be done:

1. Add the two new nodes to the same old Windows cluster

2. Install Exchange 2003 Enterprise on these nodes. Specific details can be found in http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123612(EXCHG.65).aspx

3. Make sure all latest updates are installed on all nodes.

4. Move all resources to a new node.

5. Uninstall Exchange on the old nodes - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125110(EXCHG.65).aspx

6. Evict the old nodes from the cluster.
